Matthew 7:7 (The Message).

 7-11"Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn't a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing. You're at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?
Dear Friends, once again forgive my curious mind. The title of our reading today sounds weird. I am thinking of prayer and for the next few readings, we'll share on prayer.  Now. I was just thinking what if heaven operated a voice mail and one day while dialling (praying) you hear something like;
Thank you for calling heaven.
For English press 1
For Spanish press 2

For Luganda press 3
For all other languages (Welsh, Zulu, ankole, kiga, samia), press 4; obviously you press 1(I press 3), and it goes like:
Please listen carefully and select one of the following options:
Press 1 for requests
Press 2 for thanksgiving
Press 3 for complaints
Press 4 for all others; then you go for 3 and next you hear;

I am sorry, all our Angels and Saints are busy helping other sinners right now. However, your prayer is important to us and we will answer it in the order it was received. Please stay on the line.

If you would like to speak to: God, press 1, Jesus, press 2, Holy spirit, press 3, etc etc etc…… How Many of us would hold and for how long? Praise God there is no voice mail in heaven!
One of my favourite authors on this subject says "Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us; it lifts us up to Him.
Welcome to this series.
